NéphroDent : santé bucco-dentaire chez les patients insuffisants rénaux chroniques des stades 2 à 5 sans traitement de suppléance. Protocole de recherche et résultats bucco-dentaires

Abstract : Introduction: Chronic renal failure (CRF) is defined as the progressive and irreversible decrease in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) below 90mL /min / 1.73m². There are 5 stages of CRI. Aim: The main aim of this study is to describe oral health status at each stage of CKD. The secondary objectives are to study the link between oral status and stage of CKD as well as the evolution of the inflammatory, nutritional and renal condition and the acceptance of dental care. Method: We have implemented a prospective longitudinal observational cohort study. During 3 consultations (at 0, 6 and 12 months) we assessed oral health through various indices as well as the nutritional status, inflammatory and progression of chronic kidney disease. We also assessed the acceptance of dental care in CKD patients and the quality of life related to the oral cavity. Results: We found no significant difference in oral health status among patients based on stage of CKD. However, we were able to observe a high prevalence of severe periodontal disease, a change in saliva, a quality of life, related to the oral cavity, decreasing with the severity of CKD and a good acceptance of dental care among the patients with CRF. Conclusion: CKD causes oral manifestations in patients and degrades their quality of life in relation to the oral cavity. Hence the importance of multidisciplinary management of CKD patients.
