Ma vie de primipère : approche du vécu des hommes de la médicalisation de la grossesse : une analyse qualitative

Abstract : The goal of this study is to describe how fathers live and experiment the medicalization process of pregnancy. This qualitative study and the collection of the data has been realized thanks to individual interviews, based on an interview guide. The men concerned by this study were over the age of minority, spoke French, were father for the first time since 1 to 3 days, and had their wife staying in the service of Mother-Child of the Couple-Child Hospital. The results of this study demonstrated that one part of the interrogated men was satisfied by the accompanying process, but the majority of the future fathers felt excluded from the pregnancy period and not considered through the accompanying pregnancy process. Indeed, the fathers from this study desired more caring and better treatment psychologically speaking, but also more places and similar contacts (like other future fathers) to speak with, concerning the potential doubts and questionings they could all have during the pregnancy period. In conclusion, the results of this study correspond with those showed in literature concerning the way future fathers expect and live the pregnancy period.
