Évaluation des pratiques professionnelles concernant l’utilisation de l’oxytocine lors d’un travail spontané à l’Hôpital Couple-Enfant Grenoble Alpes

Abstract : Objective: The main purpose of our study was to evaluate the professional practices in a delivery room a year after the setting up of the protocol of a health service about oxytocin use during the spontaneous labour at the Hôpital Couple-Enfant of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes. Materials and methods: We carried a clinical audit of the professional practices thanks to computerized files. Forty-nine women in spontaneous labour having received oxytocin were included. They also were in full-term pregnancy, without cicatricial uterus, with a single foetus in cephalic presentation, and without retarded intra-uterine growth. Results: Our study showed the mixed results. On one hand the initial and increased outputs were followed (≥ 85%). On the other hand the time of dilatation before intervention was followed for 18% files. But our study showed that no file followed the protocol in its entirety. Conclusion: There is room for improvement for the midwives about the use of oxytocin during spontaneous labour.
