CMV et grossesse : connaissances et pratiques des professionnels de santé

Abstract : Objectives: the main objective of our work was to evaluate the knowledge and practices of health care providers regarding CMV during pregnancy. Our secondary objective was to compare the results obtained with those of the Cordier et al. study (1) Material and method: quantitative, cross-sectional, observational and multicentric study conducted through an online questionnaire. In order to quantify the knowledge of the interviewees we have set up a 30-point score. Results: we received 597 responses including 199 obstetricians, 17 medical gynecologists, 305 midwives, 29 pediatricians, 7 biologists, 32 interns. Out of the total population (n=597), we found 82.4% who obtained a score greater than or equal to 15/30 on the score used to assess knowledged By including only the gynecologists, obstetricians and midwives, it was found that people with a score superior or equal to 15/30 were informing more the patients about CMV than professionals with less than 15/30 (p=0.005). Concerning practices, 353/521 professionals working in perinatal care provide information about CMV to patients. Professionals working in private practice provide more often information than those working in hospitals (p<0.001).There was an improvement in knowledge between 2011 and 2018 regarding the routes of transmission for the doctors and midwives (p<0.001), symptoms and long-term effects (p<0.001). Conclusion: our study showed that there was an improvement in knowledge between the 2011 study and now. 79.2% (n=597) of our participants scored 15/30 or more on knowledge of cytomegalovirus. 67.75% of participants working with pregnant women inform them about hygiene measures for CMV (n=521). It should be noted that women are more often informed by professionals working in private practice (p<0.001).
