Les troubles du sommeil dans la population à ultra-haut risque de psychose et ses liens avec la maturation cérébrale à l'adolescence

Abstract : Cerebral maturation in adolescence seems to change sleep. The dysfunction of brain maturation in adolescence in schizophrenia could therefore lead to specific disturbances of sleep. We synthesized data on sleep and brain maturation in schizophrenia. We then assessed the state of current knowledge about sleep in the Ultra-High Risk (UHR) population of psychosis. A review of the systematic literature based on PubMed and ScienceDirect data was carried out without bounds of durations. The following keywords have been used: sleep disorder AND ultra-high-risk OR at-risk mental state. This research identified seven studies of sleep disorders in at-risk patients. Longer sleep latency appears to be the most common sleep abnormality in both schizophrenia and UHR patients, sign of a disturbance of homeostatic and circadian sleep. From this research, we consider that it seems relevant to evaluate sleep in this population, by subjective and objective methods, to allow management by cognitive-behavioral therapy. Sleep may eventually allow to change the evolution of UHR patients: decrease the intensity of symptoms, the functional impact of disorders or even delay entry into schizophrenia. This subject is therefore a research avenue for a better understanding of the physiopathology of schizophrenia.
