Le développement de l’expression des émotions comme aide à la construction des représentations mentales chez l’enfant-élève

Abstract : If we refer to the definition proposed by the cognitivist approach, the term « to learn » refers to the lasting modification of « one's representations (mental, cognitive) and action patterns. » The learning of emotions in primary school, evolves according to the official programs. Alongside these changes, the work in cognitive psychology affirms the importance of teaching emotions, as an aid to build the citizen of tomorrow. Indeed, to relegate this learning later in schooling may encourage an initial representation of emotions as a secondary only act in self-formation. In order to better express and sensitize one's emotions and those of others, oral and written language is the most appropriate medium, as it forms parallel mental representations for the child-student. Indeed, verbalization has an effect on emotions and on our mental representations, which also influences our experience of our emotions. Safe environment of the school, however, remains an essential condition to help students engage in this learning for themselves, and with others.
