Utilisation d'un fouloir mécanisé appliqué au compactage latéral : définition de l'instrument et du protocole

Abstract : After highlighting the important role of root canal filling in maintaining the long-term results of endodontic preparation, the materials and different filling techniques used today are described. The combined technique combining lateral compaction and thermo-mechanical compaction is detailed while emphasizing the role of lateral compaction which, through a systematic choice of lateral spreader, master cone and accessory cones, limits the risks of overtaking and hence ensures high quality results in the 1/3 apical. The possibility of advancing the spreader to 1 or 2 mm of the working length, with the master cone in place, is an essential factor and its use can be improved if used in continuous rotation. In the experimental part, 10 prototypes of lateral spreaders usable in continuous rotation of taper 2 or 4% and diameter 20 to 50/100 were tested on simulators of straight or curved channels of apical diameter 25/100 and taper 6%/8%. This study defined, in diameter and taper, the use of 2 fouloirs to optimize the efficiency of root canal filling by lateral compaction in the apical 1/3 and to draft a protocol for use in continuous rotation.
