Les ateliers autonomes et leurs effets sur la motivation et le développement de compétences didactiques des élèves de cycle 1

Abstract : The implementation of autonomous workshops is a practice used by teachers, especially in « cycle 1 ». These workshops must generate interest so that pupils develop intrinsic motivation and thus progress in the learning area targeted by the workshops.Researches are carried out on the definition of autonomous orkshops, the difference between interest and curiosity, and the different types of motivation. In order to compare these different concepts, a study is carried out with eleven pupils from a nursery school (GS). The results show that all the students are reinvesting their learning. They are autonomous and are making progress. These students carry out the workshops with different objectives : pleasure, the implementation of a certain concentration, cooperation, with the aim of reinvesting didactic skills in the field of « Building the first tools to structure one's thinking ». The study highlights the criteria for success and the points of vigilance the teacher must take into account to promote the best possible use of these utonomous workshops.
