Conseils aux voyageurs en zone tropicale : l'exemple de Madagascar

Abstract : Madagascar is a tropical island at risk for foreign tourists wishing to visit it. Due to poor hygiene conditions, outdated sanitary facilities, unsafe drinking water and the presence of many infectious diseases, travellers should prepare themselves before this trip. In addition, there are non-infectious risks such as problems related to transport, envenimation, sun and insecurity. The pharmacist is frequently called upon before departure and must be able to provide precise advice, adapted to the conditions and duration of the trip as well as the profile and background of the traveller. This thesis is intended for pharmacists as well as doctors and travellers. It covers the main tropical diseases present on the island, advice on the risks involved and associated preventive measures. From antimalarial prophylaxis, to the preparation of a medicine kit, including vaccination, prevention of vectorborne diseases and advice on diet and hygiene measures; this manuscript will provide greater knowledge of tropical diseases and provide all the necessary advice to travellers.
