Le rôle du pharmacien d'officine face aux pathologies oculaires

Abstract : Eye diseases are numerous and diverse, affecting the entire vision system. Indeed, the eye is a complex organ, composed of different anatomical structures in permanent communication, which makes it fragile and subject to frequent ailments. The pharmacist of officine, a public health actor, is often on the front line of these ailments. He may be asked for advice at the counter, but also acts in the dispensation of prescriptions. Its role is therefore decisive in the management of patients suffering from eye diseases. This work focuses around three main axes. To start, a first part on the anatomy and physiology of the eye will detail the different structures of the eye. Then we will discuss the counter cases that the pharmacist is most often confronted with the pathologies of the red eye, the pathologies of the appendixes of the eye, as well as a paragraph on lens wearers. Finally, we will conclude with a section on the role of the pharmacist in dispensing treatments for eye diseases, focusing on three major pathologies: glaucoma, AMD and cataract.
