Identification des facteurs associés à la prise de décision du traitement du bruxisme chez l'adulte

Abstract : Bruxism is a phenomenon which has been known for a while, its concepts and treatments have evolved through time. Occlusal theories have been abandoned in favor of psycho-social-behavioral and physiopathological theories. The etiologies associated with risk factors and comorbidities require a general and multidisciplinary care planning. Practitioners witness a growing demand from patient who wish to undergo an esthetic and functional rehabilitation. Therefore, the amount of treatments and wide range restorations have increased. The knowledge of risks and difficulties that such treatments bring to a patient who suffers from bruxism is essential. In addition, techniques and restauration materials have change towards more minimally invasive procedures, preserving healthy dental tissue. Dentists are in the center of bruxism management and are often facing difficulties when treating such complex parafunction. Tools for diagnosis and decision making would allow easier therapeutic choices in the dental office.
