Comprendre les conditions de développement de Rumex crispus via une approche fonctionnelle, en vue de sa gestion en agriculture biologique

Abstract : Weeds constitute a great issue and are very damaging in organic farming. Rumex (Rumex crispus and Rumex obtusifolius), which are found in field crops all around France, are a good example. The CAPABLE project, run by the ITAB with the participation of the Acta and the CEFE, aims to find innovative alternative strategies against those weeds. During this internship, three key stages of Rumex crispus development cycle were studied under controlled conditions: germination, seedlings development and root regeneration at the adult stage. Results showed that germination was favored by light and alternating temperatures, but unfavored by burial. Interactions with leguminous had no effect whatsoever. Seedlings growth is then fast and significant, especially for the roots. Roots regeneration is essentially insured by the root collar. Parts of the roots under it have almost not regenerated. Time of regeneration is increased by burial depth. However, burial depth, type of fragmentation, taproots age or initial root system mass have not greatly influenced the development of regenerated individuals. But, time of regeneration might provide some advantage for the competition towards the crop. According to these results, agronomic control strategies have been proposed.
