Diagnostic et valorisation de l'arbre hors forêt dans le département de la Meuse

Abstract : Trees outside the forest are one of the components of the landscape. They include hedges, tree lines, groves, scattered trees, orchards and meadow orchards, and can be found in agricultural spaces, on roadsides or in urban spaces. These trees can be interesting for a territory in many ways, linked with all of the three pillars of sustainable development: environment, economy and society. They also have a huge importance for landscapes: they may for instance be landmarks or contribute to the integration of buildings in the surrounding landscape. This dissertation focuses on the Meuse, a rural department composed mainly of agricultural areas. It presents the layout of trees outside the forest within the department and its variations depending on the land use and the landscape unit. Various protection and enhancement tools are used to protect these tree structures. Several actors and measures thus overlap at different scales.
