Les violences obstétricales : état des lieux des pratiques associées à un mauvais vécu de l’accouchement en CHU à Marseille

Abstract : Introduction: Released overwhelmingly on social networks and media, obstetric violence, for which there is no consensus definition, can take différents forms. Their consequences on women's health have been highlighted, demonstrating in particular in the most extreme cases a post-traumatic stress syndrome. In France, no scientific study has been conducted to assess women's experiences. This study aims to make an inventory of professional acts felt as violent by women during their delivery. Materials and methods: First, a descriptive study of the practices have been done. Then, a comparative study have been realised to evaluate the impact of these practices on the delivery's experience. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. Il was distributed in two maternity of university hospital in Marseille, among women who were volunteers. Results: Women report a bad experience of their delivery when they do not feel accompanied by the medical team (p=0.002), when their opinion is not taken into account (p<0.001) and when their modesty is not respected (p=0.022). The experience of childbirth is also reduced when a caesarean section is performed urgently (p=0.028) or without the woman's consent (p=0.005). Participation in birth and parenting sessions improves the overall experience of childbirth (p<0.001). Conclusion: These results suggest a necessary improvement in the human accompaniment of childbirth. The modesty and the choices of the woman must be respected. The antenatal preparation of delivery through PNP sessions and the drafting of a birth plan should be encouraged.
