Les conséquences en termes de morbi-mortalité cardiovasculaire ont été largement étudiées lors de l'hypotension orthostatique (hypoTO) mais sont moins connues pour l'hypertension orthostatique (hyperTO), Gerontology, vol.62, issue.1, pp.3-15, 2015.

, L'objectif de notre étude est d'évaluer l'association entre les variations de pression artérielle à l'orthostatisme et les caractéristiques gériatriques de patients âgés ambulatoires

, Cette étude transversale a inclus de manière prospective l'ensemble des patients ayant bénéficié d'une évaluation gériatrique en hôpital de jour de gériatrie au CHU de Rouen. Les domaines gériatriques suivants ont été explorés : l'existence de chutes, la malnutrition, la fragilité, une perte d'autonomie, une dépendance, un syndrome dépressif et les troubles neurocognitifs. Les comorbidités cardiovasculaires et les traitements ont également été recueillis. L'hypoTO était définie par une diminution

, 6% présentaient une hypoTO et 22,3% une hyperTO. L'hypoTO était associée à des pressions artérielles plus élevées (p < 0,01), patients d'âge moyen de 82,9 ± 5,1 ans ont été inclus dans notre étude, vol.19

, En conclusion, les variations de pressions artérielles à l'orthostatisme sont fréquentes dans une population gériatrique ambulatoire. L'hypoTO et l'hyperTO sont associées à des profils gériatriques distincts suggérant que les mécanismes délétères impliqués sont différents entre ces deux situations
