Le recouvrement cuspidien : pourquoi, quand, comment ?

Abstract : In the dental office, dentists must treat patients with significant dent decay on a daily basis. These do not require to carve the tooth according to the concept dilapidated « inlay core / crown ». In case of therapeutic reoperation, it causes a real loss of luck for the tooth. Today, it is now allowed to simply cover the cusps with adhesive restorations. They can be partial (= onlay) or total (= overlay). It is called cuspal coverage. This preserves and protects the tooth to extend its life on the arcade. Adhesive restorations have the required biological, biomechanical and aesthetic objectives for the rehabilitation of the dental organ. They can be indicated in a very wide range of cases, which makes it possible to react to the great diversity of losses of substance clinically encountered. The decision to cover a cusp only be made after rigorous multifactorial analysis, which depends mainly on the « loss of substance » criterion. This thesis aims to support a trending topic : «inlay/ onlay / overlay », on which cross information still can be contradictory and insufficient to draw a consensual conclusion. So it answers in the clearest and most concise way possible through 3 essential questions : « the cuspal coverage : why, when, how ? ».
