Actes de télémédecine dans 3 EHPAD de Tarentaise : vécu des résidents

Abstract : Context: Faced with unequal access to care, an ageing population and a lack of medical practitioners, teleconsultations were undertaken in 3 retirement home residents in Tarentaise, with the MisMi franco-italian project. Objective: To assess the patients’ experience of the practice of teleconsultations. Method : A qualitative study was carried out among retirement home residents who had experienced a teleconsultation, using semi-structured individual interviews. A thematic analysis was undertaken by the two investigators. Results: All patients were satisfied with teleconsultations. They appreciated the avoidance of transports which were exhausting, uncomfortable and stressful. Dementia and sensory impairments prevented the correct understanding of teleconsultations. Patients were prepared to benefit from a new teleconsultation but only if complementary to a classic consultation. Conclusion: Further to this study, the project could be extended to independent elderly patients living at home and a new study could be undertaken to assess the benefit of telemedicine in medical care.
