Abstract : Objectives: to evaluate, after a consultation dedicated to prenatal counseling on the NIPT, the understanding by the patients of the information received, as well as their level of satisfaction and their feelings, and to study the factors influencing these parameters. Methods: A Prospective, observational, single-center study between november 2017 and november 2018 at the Bordeaux University Hospital, assessing the level of understanding, satisfaction and the patient’s feelings after the consultation of information, using a self-questionnaire. They obtained one point per correct answer, and a score out of 10 was calculated. The level of understanding and satisfaction was considered good in case of score > = 8/10. Factors associated with good or poor understanding and satisfaction were sought using univariate and multivariate analysis. Results: a total of 300 patients were included in the study. Patients had understood the indication for which they performed NIPT in 77.3% of the cases. A score of good comprehension was found in 180 patients (60%), with an average score of 8.7 / 10. The only factor associated with poor understanding was a low level of study in univariate and multivariate analysis (p = 0.0019). A good level of satisfaction was found in 156 patients (92.3%), and a European origin was associated with a good level of satisfaction in univariate analysis (p = 0.045). Conclusion: this study highlights a good understanding by the patients of the information received after a consultation of information on the NIPT. A high level of satisfaction is associated with these information and prenatal counseling sessions which must remain at the forefront of the implementation of this screening.
