Apport de l'estimation de l'âge des rats noirs à la connaissance du régime alimentaire de la Chouette effraie néotropicale des Petites Antilles

Abstract : Age estimation is one of the many taphonomic criteria (with digestion, fragmentation, etc.) used to distinguish, in the archaeological record, assemblages of anthropogenic origin from those of other accumulators (non-human predator, natural death without predation). In order to eliminate a potential suspect, this paper proposes to specify estimation methods to provide information on the age, height, and weight of current black rats in pellets (current referential framework of Dominica) of the Neotropical Barn Owl. To do this, a first reference framework was used to validate the osteological criterion most appropriate to respond to the problem posed. In a second step, this osteological variable was applied to the Dominica reference frame.
