Les ceintures de compétences, un outil de gestion de l'hétérogénéité dans les classes ordinaires avec des élèves en inclusion

Abstract : In today’s public-school environment, it is increasingly important to incorporate the inclusion of newly arrived students from a wide variety of backgrounds. This growing heterogeneity in the classroom challenges educators to rethink and revaluate their pedagogical teaching methods. In this climate they must make education accessible to every student. They need to embrace the diversity of their classes and use it as a positive influence, rather than see it as an obstacle. Institutional pedagogy, developed by Fernand Oury, proposes to create programmes to establish rules of life in the school. One such procedural programme will recognize skill levels of the students, inspired by how Judo belts recognize progress. They are organized according to a progression by discipline, that students will climb at their own pace. Our analysis has led us to note the different recognition of these skill belts, offers children well-being, autonomy, socialization and cooperation. The implementation of this tool, however, requires significant prior work of creation and organization. It remains a remarkable tool in the management of heterogeneity, particularly in classes where newly arrived students are included.
