Éducation et Orchestre à l'école : la pratique instrumentale de groupe en milieu scolaire

Abstract : Orchestre à l’école is a teaching device for collective musical practice in school-based. For over a decade now, in Reunion Island, it allows primary and secondary students to learn how to play an instrument. Intended primarily to provide students access to musical culture, this project does not have the sole ambition to train musicians. By renewing the academic form, it promotes the development of transversal skills essential for academic success. Classes orchestre therefore raise questions about the coeducational relationship that is being formed, around students, between parents and teachers. This study, conducted in three french colleges in the north of Reunion Island, seeks to demonstrate how Orchestre à l’école improves students’ school career. It is an element of reflection on the educational and pedagogical possibilities of music education.
