Faisabilité d’une stratégie de dépistage a l’officine, exemple de l’ostéoporose

Abstract : Background: Community pharmacists are essential to the medical care system. They are fully involved in the reinforcement of prevention including screenings, a major public health issue. Screening in community pharmacies is currently in development in France but also throughout the world as shown by the narrative review. Pharmacist implication could improve the screening of silent and underdiagnosed pathology, such as osteoporosis. Aim: To investigate the feasibility of the implementation of screening in community pharmacies, based on the example of osteoporosis. Methods: The study follows a two-step procedure: 1. the collect of opinions of the pharmacy staff; 2. the set up of a protocol for osteoporosis screening in community pharmacies and its evaluation. The protocol was carried out by 6th year pharmacy students of the University of Grenoble Alpes. Results: Regarding the 1st part, 46 responses were obtained. Participants were pharmacist owners, assistant pharmacist, technicians and pharmacy students. The majority was in favor of pharmacist involvement in the screening of chronic diseases, such as osteoporosis. Regarding the 2nd part, 7 patients were pre-included in the osteoporosis study, 5 of them met the selection criteria and were included. Patients and students’ feedbacks on the protocol carried out were rather positive. Conclusion: The singular circumstances of COVID 19 did not allow us to obtain a sufficient screening participation rate to be properly interpreted. However, feedbacks of the pharmacy staff and students were positive and promising.
