Apprendre à exprimer et gérer ses émotions : un premier pas vers l’autonomie morale du futur citoyen

Abstract : Educating future citizens, this is the complex mission assigned to the school, particularly through moral and civic education. The citizen actor of tomorrow’s society needs to develop one’s political autonomy. However, this can only be preceded by moral autonomy so that everyone can open up to the common good’s sphere, which is essential for life in society. Since school is the first place to experiment with living together, it is therefore up to the teacher to explicitly teach tools for managing emotions, the primary factor of this moral autonomy. It was our goal when we conceived the experimentation of this dissertation. We wanted to show that teaching students to express their emotions in order to better deal with them would enable children to begin to develop moral autonomy, in particular by emancipating themselves from adults in the management of their conflicts. As we haven’t had the opportunity to complete this study, we can only assume that it would seem that expressing one’s emotions would help to better deal with them. However, we cannot pronounce ourselves on the benefits of this learning for the development of citizen’s moral autonomy that we would have wanted to show by a selfmanagement of conflicts.
