Travail de groupe et engagement en langues

Abstract : Student engagement in classroom work is now seen as a major issue in learning. The aim is to make students fully involved in their learning, in order to encourage them to work. In the context of teaching foreign modern languages, this engagement is really important because students are constantly interacting with each other and exchanging in a language still unknown. The collaborative work of the students, with the creation of a concrete final production, seems to be an effective way to fuel the motivation in class. We try to answer the following question: how to put a collaborative project at the service of class climate and engagement ? We create an educational sequence, allowing students to lead a project in small groups, resulting in the creation of playlet. We can, at the end of this work, affirm that collaborative work is an effective way to lead students to fully engage in learning, but requires a real effort of preparation upstream, in order to be effective.
