Le dessin en arts plastiques : un outil pour développer la connaissance de soi des élèves

Abstract : In our societies, self-knowledge is utterly essential to the upbringing of individuals. Within schools, the teachers’ goal is to support each student toward his personal fulfilment and the affirmation of his identity in order to shape the citizens of tomorrow. Each subject area contributes to this personal development without necessarily undertaking an explicit reflexion around the notion of “who am I”? Based on this, a learning sequence on self- knowledge has been conducted in plastic arts within a class of CE1 (2nd Grade). It intended to query the inputs of this subject through a specific question : Does the activity of plastic arts, and more particularly the practice of drawing, allow students to improve their selfknowledge? The results of this experiment shows that the pupils of the studied population (7-8 years old) made important progress regarding their personal development thanks to the practice of drawing through specific working themes : the physical aspects ; tastes and interests ; emotions ; relationships.
