La littérature de jeunesse, un moyen de faire évoluer le concept de handicap chez l’enfant de CE1

Abstract : This memoir is being conducted at thirteen 2nd grade class students. Its goal is to identify how the youth album can contribute to the evolution and construction of the notion of handicap. The support of the study is a sequence developed around two children's literature books dealing with common stereotypes on disability and allowing the identification of solutions to go beyond of those wrong ideas. From a pedagogical point of view, this sequence participates in the training of the citizen by constructing the relationship to otherness through disability. To collect the required data for the study, the sequence relies on questionnaires aimed at collecting conceptions on handicap and the understanding of the albums. The study couldn’t be completed because of the health measures taken against the COVID-19 pandemic. Only three sessions were conducted. The lack of results doesn’t address the issue but highlights some observations. An evolution in the definition of disability has been developed thanks to the exchanges made during the study of an album. The truthfulness and durability of this evolution couldn’t be demonstrated but if the study is finalised it could give some interesting results.
