Éducation thérapeutique, grossesse et mucoviscidose : évaluation des connaissances des femmes atteintes de mucoviscidose à propos de la grossesse

Abstract : Cystic fibrosis is the most common of the rare diseases. Improved care and the development of new treatments are resulting in longer life expectancy for patients. This makes it possible for female cystic fibrosis sufferers to contemplate pregnancy. Patient education being at the heart of the management of cystic fibrosis, the purpose of this study was to assess female patients’ knowledge about their fertility and pregnancy in order to determine their needs, using a self-administered questionnaire to which one hundred patients responded. The results show that 68% of surveyed patients felt that they were not sufficiently informed about these topics, although their responses indicated that they were generally well informed despite some shortcomings. Indeed, it appears that patients wish to receive very detailed information on the conditions allowing pregnancy and the risks involved in particular. This study allows us therefore to establish patients’ knowledge level to develop the best possible therapeutic instrument adapted to these issues.
