L'anxiété mathématique : de quoi s'agit-il et comment agir pour la diminuer chez nos élèves ?

Abstract : Mathematics are an extremely important subject both in school and in adult life. However, a real mathematical anxiety can be developed over the course of life and can handicap the performances in this area. The purpose of this study is to understand mathematical anxiety, its possible causes and to try a proposal of pedagogy to stem it. The study is mainly about pupils of french CP and CE1 classes. We have obtained several interesting correlations, notably between mathematical anxiety and performances in mathematics, and between mathematical anxiety and sense of self-efficacy in mathematics. The proposed teaching method also seemed to bear fruit. The results of this study will be discussed at the end.
