Quelle importance les médecins généralistes accordent-ils à l’histoire de la médecine ? Étude qualitative

Abstract : Introduction: history of medicine is a main discipline wich opens mind to criticism and tolerance. But very few medical universities teach it. Some even refuse to validate the theses based only on medico-historical research. Our goal was to study this paradox, by determining how much general practioners care about history of medicine. Method: we conducted a qualitive research. In-person semi-structured interviews were run with twenty general practioners from july 2019 to august 2019, recruited by using first the snowballing sampling then the heterogeneity sampling. The interview transcripts were subjected to thematic analysis. Results: history of medicine is important to the general practitioners, who think it has theorical and practical interests. They are asking for a substantial formation during their medical studies. They also think that mecio-historical theses should be allowed. Conclusion: this qualitative research shows thats there is a true interest for history of medecine among general practitioners. The settinng up of an appropriate training should be considered, as should be the medico-historical theses.
