Intérêt des guides endodontiques dans le traitement des dents présentant des canaux calcifiés : revue systématique de la littérature

Abstract : Performing endodontic treatment in calcified canals is considered difficult and time consuming. These complex cases can lead to a high risk of instrumental fracture and root perforation associated with therapeutic failure. The aim of this study, through a systematic review of the literature, was to demonstrate the value of endodontic guides in the management of calcified teeth. The 11 case reports and 6 clinical studies selected revealed: clinical success with systematic root canal detection and complete obturation at the apex, high precision of the drilling trajectory and volume of substance lost, and a reduced treatment time compared to the conventional technique. Despite the overall low level of evidence, it appears that guided endodontics is a promising and reproducible technique that can become a valuable aid for general practitioners in the management of calcified canals. It would now be wise to standardize the protocol in order to conduct randomized clinical trials to compensate for the paucity of scientific literature on this subject.
