Spécificités de la consultation de contraception avec les adolescentes

Abstract : Objective Our study aimed to determinate how to handle contraceptive counselling with adolescent girls and if we could find some key points for the midwives and doctors to be attentive to. Methods This study was conducted through interviews with medical practitioners, midwives and doctors, who handle contraceptive counselling with adolescent girls. All the interviews were made in Ile-de-France, France, between October 2017 and January 2018. Results and conclusion This study pointed out some key findings medical practitioners should be more attentive to with adolescent girls. We found that the consultations last longer with teenagers than adults and that a gynaecological examination is not systematic on the first appointment. For this counselling, practitioners try to give the teenager the confidentiality she needs. It appears that health risk behaviours research was often conducted but the prevention of these behaviours wasn’t always made afterwards. The practitioner must consider all these points to make the adolescent patient feel confident, allowing her to choose the contraception that fits her the best and learn how to prevent risk behaviours that could hurts her.
