Intérêt de l'appareil fonctionnel fixe Forsus™dans le traitement des classes II

Abstract : ForsusTM is a hybrid fixed functional appliance used in association with a multibracket therapy in the correction of Class II malocclusions. Its major interest lies in its continuous, full time action and the fact that it does not require the patient’s cooperation which, when lacking, can compromise our treatments. Its main effects are dentoalveolar with mostly a mesial movement of the mandibular arch. The effects are fast and usually, wear time does not exceed five months. It proves to be interesting especially in Class II subdivision, Class II division 2, in adults with minor Class II and in patients at the end of mandibular growth. One of the major disadvantages is the loss of control with the protrusion of lower incisors, which limits the expression of mandibular skeletal growth. In order to avoid this adverse effect, temporary skeletal anchorage devices’ addition is the subject of many studies. The use of ForsusTM directly fixed to miniplates would allow a real mandibular growth stimulation.
