Latéralisation du nerf alvéolaire inférieur en chirurgie implantaire

Abstract : In the posterior mandibular region, severe bone atrophy remains a technical and medical challenge in its management. Lateralization of the inferior alveolar nerve is proposed in very precise indications or other techniques would not bring full satisfaction. It allows the installation of immediate implants in an operating site while freeing itself from the removal of a graft. However, the complexity of the surgical procedure and the post-operative sensory disorders require an experienced practitioner and a patient who is conscious, informed and accepting of all hazards. Therefore, the choice of this approach will have to be wisely considered among all other therapeutic alternatives. Short implants can be an attractive option, on the one hand because many of their indications overlap with those of lateralization of the NAI; and on the other hand because we do not find the inconveniences such as the invasive nature of surgery and neuropathies.
