L'image dans l'enseignement du français langue étrangère aux enfants en Chine : des yeux à la bouche

Abstract : In the field of language teaching and learning, various research studies are concerned about the use the images. From the direct method to the action-based perspective, the images are considered to be important in showing the signification of the words. In China, the images, as a visual support, hold a primordial place in the French-teaching for the children-learners (from 3 to 9 years old). During our internship at Petit ChouChou - a language institute located in Shanghai, we were able to collect a corpus including the images used by the teachers and the recordings of several child-learners in the online courses. We rely on different researches depending on the various fields, including language teaching, acquisition of foreign languages, child psychology. We try to show how the teachers use the images, what implications the image constitutes and what kinds of constraints the use of the image undergoes in constructing the meaning of a French word for Chinese children.
