Mesure de l’impact du bégaiement sur l’accès aux soins médicaux des adultes qui bégaient

Abstract : Stuttering can have a negative impact on the quality of life of people who suffer from it. It can put a brake on the realization of steps requiring oral communication. Health care pathway of these people could then be hindered by these difficulties. It seems important to determine the impact of stuttering on access to medical consultations, because a renunciation of care could have negative consequences on health. The quality of life of adults who stutter would be further altered. The objective of this study is to measure the impact of stuttering on access to health care for adults who stutter and to identify the precise reasons for the difficulties encountered. To answer this issue, a self-administered questionnaire was created for adults who stutter to collect their account about their possible difficulties with the medical world. Descriptive analysis of the answers obtained shows that stuttering doesn’t have an impact on access to health care, but it can cause difficulties for some people. Based on these observations, it would be interesting to modify the questionnaire and to question more precisely the adults who stutter in order to go further in the answer to our issue.
