Les marqueurs graphiques comme diagnostic différentiel des différents sous-types d’aphasies primaires progressives

Abstract : Primary progressive aphasias (PPA) are a group of degenerative clinical syndromes that affect more specifically and before any other symptom the language sphere. Speech therapy is an effective treatment to limit the incidence of the disorders, pharmacological treatments being non-existent. New diagnostic markers are needed to facilitate an early diagnosis of PPA and its variants, and the graphic parameters of writing on a graphic tablet are little studied. The aim of our study was to investigate whether patients with PPAs and the control subject had graphical parameters that differed (pressure, speed, jerk, and stroke) by investigating each parameter in language, non-language cognitive, and non-language non-cognitive tasks. We analyzed these parameters for 4 subjects (one patient per PPA variant and one control), who were administered the DTLA language, non-language cognitive, and non-language non-cognitive tasks by collecting the graphical parameters for each type of task on a graphing tablet. We found a difference in pressure, speed, jerk, and stroke between subjects with PPA and the control subject, but also between different subjects with PPA. These differences depended on the type of task performed. Graphical markers therefore represent a tool that can be effective in the differential diagnosis of PPA, to allow the earliest possible speech therapy management. In order to support our results, it might be relevant to increase the number of subjects in a future study on this topic.
