Évaluation des effets re-tests lors de la présentation répétée des tests de lecture « L’ Alouette » et « Le Pingouin » à des enfants normo-lecteurs de CM1 et de CM2

Abstract : Reading tests, which are used for screening or diagnostic purposes, are also used to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. The practice effects of these reading tests are rarely taken into account by speech and language therapists (SLTs) when reassessing their patients. The results of the patients may be distorted because the measure could be the practice effect and not the actual progress of the patient. Thus, we proposed two repetitions and two months apart the same two reading tests: “L' Alouette” (Lefavrais, 2005) and “Le Pingouin” (Evaléo 6-15 : (Launay et al., 2018). During these tests, we assessed children who were French normo-readers in fourth grade and fifth grade in order to measure the evolution of their results. The children did not receive any specific reading training between the two assessments. A small practice effect was found on both reading tests. A slightly larger practice effect was found for the test “Le Pingouin” (Launay et al., 2018). The fact that this test is a meaningful test, unlike the test “L’Alouette”, could explain this small difference. The reader could use the context to improve his speed and accuracy in reading. In addition, a greater practice effect was observed for children in fifth grade than for children in fourth grade. This difference can be explained by a better learning capacity present in fifth grade, as well as by a better development of reading skills. However, a third evaluation of these children will take place and will allow for further investigation of the results.
