Évaluation de la lecture labiale de l’adulte devenu sourd : élaboration d’une échelle à partir d’un support vidéo

Abstract : The speech and language therapist is the professional that offers lip-reading training to adults who have become deaf and are looking for a tool to support their understanding. Therefore, assessing the patient's lip-reading skills and motivations is essential for the implementation of a coherent and personalised rehabilitation approach. However, there is currently no objective, validated and reproducible lip-reading assessment instrument for adults with acquired hearing loss. Based on this observation and in the light of the EBP approach, we have undertaken the enrichment of the lip reading test in video designed by Léa Royant, in the form of a global scale: the lip reading evaluation scale (Échelle d’Évaluation de la Lecture Labiale – EELL). The testing of this new measurement instrument by a sample of professionals allows us to foresee possible avenues of improvement and justifies the relevance and usefulness of its integration in the speech and language pathology therapy assessment of the adult with acquired deafness.
