Évaluation des pratiques de dépistage du diabète de type 2 après un diabète gestationnel par les généralistes

Abstract : Introduction: Type 2 diabetes is a real public health problem. However, the modalities of its screening in general medicine after gestational diabetes are not clearly defined Aim: determine the detection rate for type 2 diabetes after gestational diabetes in general medicine and identify the reasons for non-achievement. Method : Descriptive transversal study with questionnaire, concerning a sample of general practitioners in Nouvelle Aquitaine. Results: we included 198 general practitioners for a response rate of 36%. The screening rate was estimated at 63%. Screening was more often performed when patients had been followed by a diabetologist (p = 0,0004) and when they were aware of the risk of T2DM after GDM (p< 0,0001). The doctors who felt they had a good knowledge of the modalities of this screening carried out the test more often (p = 0,0013). Conclusion: screening for type 2 diabetes is insufficiently performed in patients who have presented gestational diabetes. Better knowledge of screening methods by general practitioners and better information for patients could improve everyone’s involvement in this screening.
