Cancers des voies aérodigestives supérieures et qualité de vie : revue de la littérature des auto-questionnaires

Abstract : Each year, in metropolitan France, head and neck cancers (VADS) affect approximately 15,000 people. The survival rate is increasing, often at the cost of heavy treatments that leave side effects and alter the patients' quality of life. The objective of this dissertation was to conduct a literature review of selfquestionnaires that assess the quality of life of patients treated for VADS cancer. Searches were performed in January 2021 on the PubMed database. Only articles published in French or English between 2015 and 2020 were selected (n = 203). A total of 189 articles were selected by applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Their analysis led to the identification of 104 different self-administered questionnaires. Of these, 24 were generalist, 16 were specific to dysphagia or dysphonia, and 64 addressed specific areas but were not directly related to VADS cancers. This work confirms the importance of assessing patients' quality of life beyond symptoms. Future research should investigate the feasibility of integrating some of these selfquestionnaires into speech-language pathology practice.
