Quand l’annonce du handicap autistique bouleverse : accompagnement et soutien de la maternalité en psychomotricité

Abstract : When I meet Ilyas and his mother, I’m touched by the suffering and confusion carried out on their faces. The period of research and then the announcement of this child’s disability created a real imbalance in their relationship and within the family. Therefore, I decided to build my dissertation around their history with disability and to focus my remarks particularly on the support and accompaniment that psychomotricity can offer to a mother confronted with the handicap of her child. After having defined the mother-child relationship as well as its role in the development of the child and in the acceptance of motherhood, I explain the consequences of handicap’s announcement to the parents and those of autism on mother-child dyad. From these theoretical elements, I then present in more detail the story of Ilyas and his mother as well as the assessments and the support put in place for them. Then, I discuss in detail the specifics of the Denver Method and the benefits it may have brought to their relationship. This thesis is intended to bring questions about the issue of announcing disability and what psychomotricity can bring to these people whose lives have been turned upside down.
