« Du calme ! » : comprendre et traiter l’instabilité psychomotrice chez l’enfant

Abstract : Agitation is becoming an increasing part of the reasons for consultation in psychomotricity. In order to treat it, it is essential to understand its place within the symptomatic triad of a larger neurodevelopmental disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This disorder, also known as psychomotor instability, is manifested by three major clinical signs: inattention, impulsivity and agitation. A polymorphic disorder with multiple etiologies, it is characterized by an alteration in executive functions and may result from a disturbance in early interactions. Through the evolution of three children followed in child psychiatry, we will see how the psychomotrician contributes to the multidisciplinary management of unstable children. The evaluation and management of certain psychomotor aspects of the disorder will be highlighted, such as tonic and praxis disorders, body representation and spatio-temporal organization.
