Vécu des patients participants au programme d'éducation thérapeutique Reucare

Abstract : Introduction : The therapeutic education aims at providing abilities to patients and helping them to be capable of caring for themselves in regard to their pathology. Reucare is a local therapeutic education association for patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. The objective of this study is to take an interest in the patient experience attending Reucare. Method : The general inductive qualitative study was carried out by twelve half-structured individuals interviews. Results : Before Reucare, patients felt fatalistic about their illness. Thanks to the support of Reucare through telephone follow-up, trainers and the group effect, patients have acquired skills. As a consequence, life changes ensued. After Reucare, patients have changed their view on their disease and continue to set goals. Patients don’t miss an opportunity to share their knowledge with those around them. Conclusion : Through the acquisition of abilities, patients have become active in their health. They changed their life trajectory in order to prevent avoidable complications.
