L'expérience du confinement à la Réunion : étude qualitative

Abstract : Background : How was the lockdown experienced by the population of Reunion Island? The aim is to understand the repercussions, from the point of view of the psychological health of individuals, and its potential impact in the short and long term. Method : Qualitative study of 15 volunteer participants who responded to an online questionnaire (CONFINAOU). Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews until data saturation. The results were subjected to an interpretative phenomenological analysis. Results : The themes emerging from the analysis are organized around three main meta-themes of experience: - The transformation of relationships during lockdown, both within the home and in close relationships, but also the evolution of the more global perception of others - The strong emotional imprint of the lockdown by its brutal and anguishing dimension as well as the participation of external factors (media, regulations) and their psychological repercussions; - The inscription in time and space through the strategies and activities developed during this period, and modification of the temporality felt. Conclusion : We have shown how lockdown is a period of life that potentiates many stress factors, with a diversity of reactions and experiences that are part of a common reality.
