Édentement de classe I et perte du calage postérieur : conséquences musculo-articulaires et posturales

Abstract : Purpose: Postural wedging is known as a fundamental parameter in cranio-mandibular balance and occlusal stability. Literature associate posterior bilateral tooth loss on one hand with temporo-mandibular disorders, with non-physiological hyo-mandibular position on the other hand and also with postural disorders. Aim of this study is to assess the musculo-articular and postural significance of posterior wedging. Method: We conducted a review of international literature by searching for keyword association on three databases, PubMed, Science Direct Elsevier et Scopus. Results: On initial selection of 112 articles we selected 15 articles corresponding to our inclusion criteria. Conclusion: Th review of literature was able to identify an anatomo-funtional and neurological link between posterior wedging loss and postural disorders. There was no consensus on the clinical significance of posterior wedging in the postural system.
