État des lieux des connaissances et des pratiques cliniques sur les recommandations de la HAS concernant le sevrage tabagique par les médecins généralistes du Calvados (14), de la Manche (50) et de l’Orne (61) (ex-région Basse Normandie)

Abstract : Introduction: Smoking has important health consequences. Struggle against tobacco is therefore a major public health issue which decision-makers have tackled by implementing several preventive measures. In 2014, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) issued recommendations on smoking cessation intended in particular for general practitioners (GP) who have a key role to play. Main objective is to establish an knowledge and clinical practices inventory concerning smoking cessation by GP in Calvados (14), Manche (50) and Orne (61). Material and methods: Quantitative descriptive study conducted from a questionnaire by post. Results: Participation rate of 22.1%, i.e. 155 questionnaires analyzed. Average rate of correct answers 70.1%, participating in training and installation time are two influencing factors. Screening for tagabic intoxication and "minimal advice" application are well established in GP practice, as are rules for prescribing nicotine replacement therapy. The vast majority of GMs respect the current position of the HAS, which is not to advise electronic cigarettes. Conclusion: GPs are attached to their preventive role, and in particular in the field of smoking. Their knowledge of HAS recommendations are satisfactory and their clinical practice are in line with them. However, it is necessary to update them in the face of current challenges (varenicline prescription, vaping use) and to strengthen doctors training.
