Soutien de l’identité auprès de patients adultes atteints de schizophrénie : approche psychomotrice au sein d’un groupe thérapeutique

Abstract : This diploma thesis presents the interest of the therapeutic group and the psychomotor approach in supporting the identity process of adult patients suffering from schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a complex psychiatric illness which affects the subject in his whole being. The psycho-corporal destructuring that he undergoes disturbs his ability to communicate, to meet other people and transforms his relation to the surrounding world. So, his interpersonal relationships are reduced. The feelings of body unity, coherence and continuity of existence are undermined, and the subject’s identity is threatened. By using group’s specificities, the psychomotrician, through his relational approach, guides the subject in listening to his body and his sensations, facilitating the transition from the experienced to the represented. He offers to work through bodily communication, which is conducive to experimentation and self-expression, and strengthens the patient's sense of identity.
