Blessures de surutilisation du jeune sportif et croissance

Abstract : The practice of a sport at a high level appears earlier and earlier in the child. By the time they reach adolescence, when their growth accelerates, they are already facing heavy training loads and the stress of competition. There is then a high rate of overuse injuries. These injuries require long periods of rest and can lead to sequelae that can impact the child's career. Therefore, the best way to treat this type of injury is to avoid their occurrence. The purpose of this study was to learn how physiotherapists prevent the onset of overuse injuries and how they adapt prevention to growth. After reviewing the literature, 5 expert physiotherapists were selected to participate in 10 to 15 minutes semi structured interviews. Analysis of these interviews and the literature identified five categories that reflect the preventive strategies that can be used: collaboration, monitoring, intervention, individualization, and education. These five types of strategies are used by the physiotherapist and must be combined in order to achieve efficient prevention. The practitioner's challenge today is to implement these strategies consistently and to make them last over time in order to best preserve the health of the child athlete.
