Effets de l'avancée en âge sur les coordinations visuo-motrices lors d'une tâche d'évitement entre deux marcheurs

Abstract : Context. Elderly people is a growing population and that will increase in the coming years. However, aging is also linked to the appearance of multiple pathologies, which represents a real societal challenge that we must address. In this logic, the regular practice of Adapted Physical Activities is part of the maintenance of important physical and cognitive capacities over time. Also, the influence of the environment is still underestimated in this type of program. In order to understand, from a movement control point of view, the effect of aging on visuo-motor coordination and, thus, propose new designs for adapted physical activity programs, deeper investigation is required. Objective. In this study, we aim to research how the elderly person are affected in their processing skills, specifically in their use of temporal information to move. This study will focus on a collision avoidance task between two walkers, in order to evaluate the effects of aging on visuo-motor coordination. Theoretical methodology. Two groups of young adults and elderly people will be selected. The task consists of crossing a straight line, by walking at a speed of comfort, an aperture materialized by a door, while taking into account the interaction with the other walker carrying out the same task in the opposite direction in order to avoid the collision. The experiment consists of creating groups composed of two young subjects, two elderly subjects or one young and one elderly subject which will interact. We will manipulate their starting points to vary their theoretical order of passage under the gate. The investigation will focus on the reversal rate of the passage order as well as the characteristics of the interaction situation at the time of initiation of the trajectory deviation.
