Impression à la demande

Abstract : Printing at a worldwide level is an unexpected challenge met by the multinational corporations from a cost, security and wise usage perspective by the employees. The work that was entrusted to us, as a printing management team at Nestlé, consisted to analyze and bring a comprehensive global and standard solution that fulfill the above challenges. It has enabled us to implement a set of capabilities that influence indirectly the user behavior by better managing and controlling his printing flows while contributing to a LEAN and efficient printing mechanism that bring value for the company and the planet... The outcome that we brought was to develop a centralized solution, which control and secure the printing flows by retaining the document in a virtual queue. Once the user is ready and acknowledge the relevance of his document, the document will be delivered to his final destination "the printer". Moreover, the development provides a dynamic and remote configuration features which could be enabled on the printers. The overall design was built using a modular framework represented by a middleware logic layer hosted between the output management server and the printers. We have used UML as modelling language to produce the design. For the development, we used "NodeJS" and "PERL" as programing languages. Thus, the vectors of this realization were: normalizing and controlling the printing flows, standardizing the security around the printing, virtualization and feature abstraction for printer management. The impact of our delivered solution was beyond our expectations and enabled us to evolve a step ahead the printing usage by influencing end users’ behavior in how they consider the printing features in their usual business day at a worldwide level.
